About Sentence Scramble

Sentence Scramble is an eight-round English word-order game built from disclosed lexical evidence. Each round shows the words from one complete sentence in a fixed mixed order. Select the numbered word buttons until the answer line is complete, then the game compares that sequence with the displayed source-backed target. The sentences come from example frames in Princeton WordNet 3.1. Exact sense keys connect the verbs to the source templates, and dedicated Cambridge Dictionary verb pages independently cross-check the ordinary movement, transfer, placement, removal, and reading patterns. This makes the answer table auditable instead of asking you to trust an unexplained generated sentence.

The fixed route includes children marching to a playground, cars gliding down an avenue, horses galloping across a field, people giving food, women pouring water, notices being plastered on doors, snow being cleared from a path, and parents reading a poem to children. Tests store all eight literal target sentences independently from the production route. They also require exactly eight unique route IDs and eight unique target strings. Lizely does not copy dictionary definitions or add hidden grammar labels. WordNet permits commercial use and redistribution with its notice, and the page names the source rather than presenting the examples as original research.

A target on this page is one verified route, not a claim that every other arrangement of similar words is bad English. Natural language can allow a different emphasis, dialect, punctuation choice, or complement order in another context. This small game does not parse arbitrary prose and does not grade free writing. It asks only whether the selected tokens reproduce the target disclosed for the current round. That boundary prevents a distractor or an alternative sentence from being described as universally ungrammatical. It also makes every browser run reproducible.

Begin with the first visible mixed sentence. Every token has a stable identity, so the state remains correct even if two words happen to have the same visible spelling. Click or tap a word, or press its displayed number key. Backspace removes the most recently selected token. A selected token cannot be selected twice. When all words have been placed, a matching sequence advances to the next sentence. A mismatch adds one error, explains that the route is being reset, and returns every token to the pool for another attempt. Errors reduce the recreational point total; they never produce a language level, diagnosis, grade, or permanent record.

The game accepts one state transition at a time. A held keyboard key, stale click from an earlier round, duplicate token, invalid index, and input after completion are ignored. Opening the spreadsheet-style boss screen also blocks word choices, undo, and Restart until the overlay is closed. These rules matter because a hidden input must not silently complete a sentence that the player cannot see. Click, touch, and keyboard controls all use the same guarded logic rather than separate scoring paths.

After the eighth target, the result panel reports completed sentences, total errors, and points from this fixed route. The shared game shell may remember a best points value in local browser storage. It does not upload selected words, create an account, publish a leaderboard, or infer a vocabulary profile. Restart returns to the same evidence-backed route so the interaction can be retested, although familiarity naturally makes repeat play easier. The page is designed for a narrow screen without drag-and-drop, horizontal word boards, or colour-only meaning. This is an entertainment exercise, not a clinical/IQ/cognitive assessment.
