About Memory Match
Memory Match Game is a compact pair-finding challenge built around a fixed board of twelve cards. Six familiar symbols appear exactly twice: a teddy bear, moon, leaf, rocket, kite, and shell. The starting arrangement is deterministic rather than randomized, so the same card always occupies the same opening position. That makes the board easy to audit, makes browser tests reproducible, and lets players learn a route through the challenge instead of depending on a lucky shuffle. Select a hidden card to reveal it, then select a second card. Matching symbols stay visible. A nonmatching pair remains face up until you deliberately turn both cards back over.
The explicit turn-back step is the central interaction choice. Many matching games hide an incorrect pair after a timer, but an automatic delay can race against a fast click, keyboard repeat, slow device, or browser automation. This version has no asynchronous hiding timer. After a mismatch, the board pauses in a review state and displays a Turn cards back over control. Touch and pointer users can activate that button, while keyboard players can press F. No third card can be revealed while the two incorrect cards are waiting. The result is predictable: players always have time to inspect a mistake, and every input maps to one visible state transition.
The challenge permits one recoverable mismatch. A second mismatch ends the run in a deadlock, leaving the final incorrect pair face up so the reason is visible. Restart creates the original twelve-card arrangement and clears the score, matched pairs, flips, mismatch count, and pending review. Once the board is complete or deadlocked, card reveals, cursor movement, and turn-back actions are ignored. This terminal freeze prevents additional input from changing an earned result and gives automated checks a stable final state.
Scoring is deliberately simple. Each of the first five matched pairs advances the displayed score by 150 points. Matching the sixth and final pair sets the result to exactly 1,000 points. The completion value does not depend on animation timing, input speed, screen size, or browser performance. A perfect route uses twelve flips and no mismatches, but the page does not describe the score as a cognitive, memory, attention, intelligence, or health assessment. It is only a product-defined game result for this fixed board. Best score is saved locally when browser storage is available.
Every interaction can be completed without a mouse. The board uses a four-column grid with one keyboard cursor. Arrow keys move among cards, and Space or Enter reveals the current card. Press F to turn a reviewed mismatch face down. The shared Restart control begins again, and pressing Escape twice opens the site-wide boss-key spreadsheet view. Native buttons provide touch targets and standard focus behavior. Each hidden card has a numbered accessible label; a face-up card announces its symbol and whether it has already been matched, so the game does not rely on emoji artwork alone.
The fixed deck is intentionally small enough for a quick break and large enough to require several comparisons. Symbols were chosen as distinct product-authored tokens, not as culturally ranked categories or facts about the world. Their order has no hidden meaning. The board does not claim to train memory, diagnose impairment, estimate age, measure reaction time, or improve mental performance. It also does not collect a player profile, upload activity, call a remote game service, or download a runtime dataset.
All play happens inside the current browser tab. The client component uses the shared game shell and the site's existing color, spacing, typography, and focus tokens. There is no new package, remote image, sound file, animation loop, ad hoc color value, server endpoint, or account requirement. On narrow screens the same four-column board remains available rather than removing controls, and the square cards scale within the available width without horizontal scrolling.
Use Memory Match Game when you want a short, repeatable matching puzzle with clear rules and deterministic feedback. Because the layout stays fixed, returning players may eventually memorize the full route; that is expected, not a defect. Restart is meant to replay the same audited challenge. Methodology & sources
A fixed twelve-entry array contains six product-authored pair IDs, each occurring exactly twice, in one deterministic opening order. One reveal stores an index; a second reveal either adds the pair ID to the matched set or exposes an explicit pending mismatch. Dismissing the first mismatch clears that pending pair without a timer. A second mismatch deadlocks. Intermediate matches award 150 points each, while the sixth pair sets the exact terminal score to 1,000. Complete and deadlocked states return unchanged for all later game actions.
