About Tarot Card Meanings

Tarot Card Meanings is a searchable reference catalogue for all 78 cards in the Rider-Waite-Smith tradition. It separates 22 Major Arcana cards from 56 Minor Arcana cards and preserves the four Minor suits of Wands, Cups, Swords, and Pentacles. The product is an upright-only catalogue: it does not draw a random card, ask a personal question, score an outcome, or present a prediction.

The Major Arcana follow the Rider-Waite-Smith sequence from The Fool at 0 through The World at 21. In this sequence Strength is VIII and Justice is XI, a useful alignment check because other historic deck traditions may number those cards differently. Each Major entry shows its number, title, and a concise set of upright themes. The catalogue does not claim that one short phrase exhausts a symbol or reading tradition.

The Minor Arcana contain fourteen cards per suit: Ace, Two through Ten, Page, Knight, Queen, and King. Product order is Wands, Cups, Swords, then Pentacles. Together those four groups produce 56 unique Minor cards. Search can match a title, theme, rank, suit, or arcana label, while filters can narrow results to Major or Minor and to one Minor suit.

The complete card identities are reused from the existing independently tested tarot catalogue on this site rather than copied into a second table that could drift. Evidence checks the 78 total, unique IDs and titles, the 22 plus 56 split, four suits of fourteen, card boundaries, Strength and Justice positions, and the final King of Pentacles. Reuse keeps the reading and reference tools aligned while their interactions remain distinct.

Theme phrases are concise original paraphrases informed by A. E. Waite's public-domain text. They are not copied from a modern commercial guidebook. Reversed meanings are outside the product scope, and the page says so. Meanings can vary by deck, surrounding cards, reader, history, and context; this catalogue provides a compact orientation, not a universal authoritative interpretation.

No personal information is required. Search and filter values remain in current React state and the component contains no fetch call, cookie, localStorage, sessionStorage, analytics request, or remote model call. Nothing is uploaded. The catalogue does not need an account. As with any on-screen information, current state can still be seen by someone who controls or views the device.

Search, selectors, Clear, Reset, and every card row have at least a 44-pixel target. The result count is announced as status text, selected rows expose pressed state, and labels remain visible. The layout presents list and details side by side on wide screens and stacks them on smaller screens. The long result list scrolls within its section so the detail remains usable without forcing an excessively wide page.

Verification uses thirteen literal identity and boundary goldens plus whole-table invariants. Tests cover the first and last Major cards, Strength VIII, Justice XI, every suit boundary, the 78 unique-card total, 22 Major cards, 56 Minor cards, and fourteen cards per suit. Search, arcana and suit filters, clear, reset, and the catalogue-only safety boundary are also checked. Correctness means accurately presenting this declared deck structure, not validating supernatural claims.

Reuse the existing literal 78-card Rider-Waite-Smith catalogue in canonical order: Major 0-21, then Wands, Cups, Swords, and Pentacles, each Ace through Ten followed by Page, Knight, Queen, and King. Filter normalized search text across title, themes, arcana, suit, and rank; combine it with explicit arcana and suit selectors. Resolve details only from the visible result set, falling back to its first card or no selection. Never draw, reverse, predict, score, persist, or transmit catalogue state.
