About Celtic Cross Tarot

Celtic Cross Tarot Reading prepares a ten-card spread using one explicitly named modern position system. The positions are Self, Situation, Challenges or Opportunities, Recent Past, Higher Power, Near Future, Blockers and Inhibitions, Allies, Advice, and Long-Term Potential. Cards are revealed one at a time so the next identity is not exposed in the visible page, accessibility tree, or data attributes before the user chooses to continue.

The position names and numbering follow Tarot.com’s published modern ten-position explanation. They are not presented as a universal Celtic Cross standard. A. E. Waite’s public-domain Pictorial Key describes an older Ancient Celtic Method with a significator and different position meanings and ordering. That historical contrast is why the interface identifies its chosen variant instead of claiming all readers use the same layout.

A seed controls the card order. The tool normalizes spacing and case, combines the normalized seed with a Celtic-Cross-specific namespace and each card ID, hashes all 78 candidates with the browser’s native SHA-256 implementation, sorts the digests, and selects the first ten. Because each catalogue card is ranked once, the spread contains ten unique upright cards. The same normalized seed reproduces the same result under this versioned method.

Users can type a short non-sensitive seed or ask the browser to generate a random 128-bit hexadecimal seed. Prepare clears any older draw before asynchronous hashing begins, and a request counter prevents a slower prior calculation from overwriting a newer one. Reset invalidates pending work and clears the current seed, prepared card IDs, reveal count, status, and error state.

Hidden cards are handled as a product boundary, not just covered with CSS. Until a position is revealed, the component resolves its card as null and renders only the position label plus a generic not-revealed state. Card title and themes are created only after reveal. This makes the gradual interaction honest for screen-reader users and avoids leaking future identities through markup inspection.

The shared 78-card catalogue supplies names and brief themes, but this tool does not claim that a card predicts facts or events. Position prompts are original questions for optional reflection. A phrase such as Near Future is the sourced position label, not a forecast. The page explicitly excludes medical, mental-health, legal, financial, relationship, safety, and crisis decisions from its use.

Everything happens locally in the current tab. There is no reading API, model request, analytics payload from the widget, localStorage, sessionStorage, cookie, or account requirement. No personal question, name, birthday, location, email address, or contact information is requested. A typed seed is visible so a user can reproduce it, and can be cleared with Reset.

Form controls and reveal actions provide at least a 44-pixel target and visible keyboard focus. The ten positions flow from one column to two and then five as space permits, with wrapping for long labels and seeds. Focus moves to the newly revealed position, while a polite status message announces progress without exposing the next card.

Verification locks all ten external position labels, the 78-card input size, ten-card uniqueness, the exact SHA-256 namespace, normalized-seed stability, and an exact fixed-seed sequence of card IDs and titles. Tests also check stale-request protection, the absence of storage and network calls, hidden-card DOM boundaries, responsive classes, and safety wording. The result is reproducible entertainment and reflection, not evidence about a person or future.
