About Water Intake Counter
Water Intake Counter is a simple personal cup tally with one practical addition to a generic click counter: it shows progress against a daily target that you choose. Set a short label if you want one, enter the number of cups that belongs to your own plan, and press Add a cup whenever you decide to record one. The screen shows today's cup total, the chosen target, and whether the target has been reached. This is deliberately a record of user-entered values, not health advice. The tool does not calculate a recommended amount, infer body needs, use a default medical target, diagnose hydration, or make a promise about wellness. A personal tally remains useful precisely because it does not pretend one amount fits every person or circumstance.
The target is optional. Until you choose one, the counter still records cups but says that there is no personal progress target to display. Once you set a whole-number target from one through 9,999 cups, the tool reports the exact number of cups and a plain percentage against that target. You can add one cup at a time and undo the latest cup when a tap was accidental. A date's target is remembered when the first cup for that date is saved. That means changing your preference later does not rewrite the meaning of an earlier day in the CSV or history list. It also avoids a misleading situation where an old day appears to have met a target that you selected only afterward. The target is a label for your own progress, not a recommendation supplied by Lizely.
Each saved cup belongs to the local calendar date reported by your device. A count recorded late at night stays attached to that local date rather than being moved by a UTC boundary. When a new local day starts, today's cup total begins at zero while previous nonzero days remain in the history list. The list shows each date with its cup count and, when one was selected, the target kept with that day. This makes the tool more useful than a one-number widget while keeping the record small and understandable. It does not import data from a wearable, ask for a health profile, count millilitres, or collect anything in the background.
You can take the record out of the browser without sending it to a service. Export CSV creates a Date, Cups, Daily target cups, and Goal reached file. It opens cleanly in a spreadsheet and keeps one row for each saved nonzero day. Export PNG creates a natural 1080 by 1350 image with a total and recent day rows. The image does not include a URL or the custom label that you typed, so a visual summary carries less personal context. Both exports are generated locally from browser canvas and Blob APIs. There is no account, upload, server-side file conversion, or hidden analytics request associated with the counter or its export controls.
The privacy boundary is direct. Your label, target, and cup record live in local browser storage on this device. They do not synchronize to a phone, computer, or account, and clearing this site's browser data removes them. If local storage is unavailable, the current page remains usable and shows that it cannot preserve a durable history. Use Water Intake Counter when a user-selected cup goal and daily history are helpful. Use Online Tally Counter for a neutral manual count with adjustable steps, or Daily Habit Counter when the primary feature you need is a named habit and calendar streak. Start with a target you have chosen for yourself, add a cup when appropriate, undo a correction when necessary, and export a private record only if you want one outside this browser.
Methodology & sources
The tool stores a bounded local JSON record under counter:water-intake-counter. Cup increments use the device-local calendar day from Intl.DateTimeFormat. A user-selected target is persisted with a day when it first receives a cup, preventing later preference changes from rewriting historical progress. Scope excludes recommendations, millilitre conversion, medical advice, wearables, and cloud sync.
Frequently asked questions
- Does this tool recommend how much water I should drink?
- No. You choose the target. This is a personal tally only and not medical advice.
- Can I change my target later?
- Yes. A new preference applies to new records; a day with saved cups retains the target used for that day's progress.
- Will my cups sync to another device?
- No. The counter is stored only in this browser and no account is required.
