About Number Sequence Quiz
Number Sequence Quiz is a five-round pattern-recognition game. Each round shows a short sequence with one missing final value and four numbered choices. Choose the value generated by the disclosed arithmetic pattern. Solve all five before making two mistakes.
The fixture is a Lizely product set built from elementary arithmetic rather than a factual reference dataset or claimed standardized test. Its five sequences, choices, answer indices, explanations, two-strike rule, and score are fixed and covered by independent logic assertions, so the same keyboard run is reproducible.
Press 1, 2, 3, or 4 to select the matching choice. Mouse and touch users can click the same four buttons. A correct answer awards 200 points and advances immediately. A wrong answer leaves the current question visible, records one mistake, and invites another look at the pattern.
Round one is 2, 4, 6, 8, ? and adds 2, so the answer is 10. Round two is 3, 6, 12, 24, ? and doubles, so the answer is 48. Round three is 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, ? and adds the previous two values, producing 8.
Round four is 10, 9, 7, 4, ?. Its differences are minus 1, minus 2, and minus 3, so the next subtraction is 4 and the answer is 0. Round five is 1, 4, 9, 16, ?, the consecutive squares from one squared through five squared, so the answer is 25.
A clean answer-key sequence is choice 2, choice 3, choice 3, choice 2, choice 3. Five correct rounds produce 1,000 points. The score measures correct patterns rather than speed: there is no timer, streak multiplier, random bonus, or penalty hidden behind the interface.
Two wrong selections create a reachable terminal deadlock. The buttons become disabled and Restart is required. One wrong selection is not terminal; the player can answer the same question correctly and continue, although the recorded mistake remains. This gives the quiz a real failure state while preserving a fair first correction.
The pure logic rejects choice indices outside zero through three and ignores every answer after completion or deadlock. It stores only round index, score, mistake count, completion, deadlock, and the most recent correctness flag. The displayed question is selected from the fixed five-entry fixture using the bounded round index.
The independent test checks all five computed answer values, simulates the complete five-round 1,000-point run, proves that one error remains playable, proves that a second error deadlocks, proves a deadlocked state cannot advance, and rejects both negative and out-of-range choices.
The interface uses semantic text and buttons styled with site variables rather than canvas pixels. Each choice includes its keyboard number, and the status announces question number and mistakes. There is no random service, account, audio, download, hardware dependency, network request, or pointer-only interaction.
Restart returns to round one with zero points and zero mistakes. The best completed score remains only in this browser's localStorage.
