About Sun Number Calculator

The Sun Number is a numerology value calculated from the month and day of birth. Some numerology sources call the same arithmetic result the Attitude Number. The rule is compact: add the calendar month number to the birth day, then reduce the total to a single digit from 1 through 9. For example, November 28 gives 11 + 28 = 39, then 3 + 9 = 12 and 1 + 2 = 3. This calculator displays those steps rather than returning an unexplained digit.

Only the birth month and day are used. A birth year is not part of the cited formula, so the result can be calculated without collecting a full date of birth. The day still has to be valid for the selected month. February 29 is accepted because it can occur in a leap year, while dates such as February 30 or September 31 are rejected. If a subtotal is 11, 22, or 33, it is reduced again; this particular method returns only 1 through 9.

Despite the name, a numerology Sun Number is not an astrological Sun sign. It does not use the zodiac, the position of the Sun, a birth time, geographic coordinates, or astronomical data. It is also different from a Life Path number, which typically uses the full birth date including the year. Keeping those inputs separate helps prevent one named convention from being mistaken for another.

You can verify the result without any lookup table beyond ordinary month numbering. Write the birth month as 1 for January through 12 for December, add the day of month, and sum the decimal digits of any multi-digit total until one digit remains. For November 22, the subtotal is 33 and this convention continues to 6; for November 28, 39 becomes 12 and then 3. The calculator does not use the current year, a birth year, location, timezone, zodiac boundary, ephemeris, or random value, so repeated runs with the same month and day are deterministic. If a different site preserves 11, 22, or 33, it is using a different rule from the cited Sun/Attitude method implemented here. The visible chain makes that convention difference immediately testable.
