The extension and MIME type identify only possible containers. Your browser must still support the specific codecs inside the file. These file, duration, and dimension limits bound the memory, playback time, and browser resources needed for a local conversion. Safari and some other browsers may not expose captureStream or a compatible MediaRecorder format, so the required browser capability can affect whether extraction is available.

What the Opus WebM download is

The completed file is an Opus audio track inside a WebM container. That format is suitable for pulling speech, music, ambient sound, or a reference track from a short clip when WebM audio meets your needs. The tool does not produce several common alternatives, and the browser-based recorder requires re-encoding rather than copying the source audio packets unchanged.

Re-encoding can change both quality and file size. Opus WebM is therefore a practical converted result, not a guarantee that the output reproduces the original compressed audio bit-for-bit. If the download must match a platform’s accepted codec, confirm the required format first and use a dedicated editor with verified export settings when necessary.

Resolving a Windows extraction error

The converter stops with a visible message for conditions that prevent a valid recording. Use the message and the source details to identify the relevant limit or browser capability rather than expecting the tool to create a silent placeholder.

  • No audio track: Choose a video that actually contains audio. A video without an audio track fails explicitly instead of generating a silent file.
  • Decode error or unsupported extension: The file may use codecs your browser cannot decode. Check the browser’s supported formats and choose another local source when possible.
  • Unsupported recorder: The browser must expose a compatible MediaRecorder format. Safari and some other browsers may not provide the captureStream or recording support required by the tool.
  • Empty output or invalid duration: Processing did not produce a valid recording. Review the source, its duration, and the browser support described above.
  • Excessive dimensions: Check that neither decoded side exceeds 4096 pixels and that the total area remains within 3840 × 2160 pixels.
  • Canceled work: Selecting Cancel stops the current extraction job, so select Extract audio again when you are ready to restart it.

Also confirm that the file is no larger than 500 MiB and no longer than five minutes. A different compatible browser may help when the current browser lacks captureStream or a suitable recorder, but it cannot make an unsupported codec decodable. Reuse the track only with permission

Extracting a track does not grant permission to publish or redistribute it. Use only video content that you own or have explicit permission to convert and reuse.
