A free UTM builder with no sign-up lets you add or refresh the five traditional UTM parameters on a complete web URL without creating an account.

The UTM Link Builder keeps the construction process in your browser. Paste the destination, enter your campaign values, build the tagged URL and copy the result for an ad, newsletter, social post, partner placement or other campaign destination. The tool does not send the destination URL or your campaign labels to a server.

It is intentionally focused on constructing clean campaign links rather than managing campaigns or verifying tracking. The generated URL is ready to review and use, but successful analytics attribution still depends on your own reporting configuration.

What the Free Browser Builder Handles

The builder combines a destination URL with the five traditional UTM fields. Source, medium and campaign name are required, while term and content can be included when they support your reporting convention. Blank optional fields are left out rather than added as empty parameters, keeping the finished link shorter and reducing accidental variations in campaign labels.

Parameter Required What it identifies
utm_source Yes The originating platform, publisher or referral source
utm_medium Yes The marketing channel or method
utm_campaign Yes The name of the campaign initiative
utm_term No A term or keyword group used by your convention
utm_content No A content or creative identifier

The tool does not invent a naming taxonomy or convert your labels to a different case. It trims accidental outer spaces and otherwise preserves the text you supply. For example, one team might use google as its source, cpc as its medium and spring-launch as its campaign name, but those are examples rather than automatically applied settings.

Build a Campaign URL in Three Steps

  1. Paste the complete destination URL. Include the http:// or https:// protocol and the final landing-page path. A URL that already contains unrelated parameters or a fragment can be used as the starting point.
  2. Enter the campaign values. Provide campaign source, medium and name. Add term or content only if your reporting setup uses them. Leave an optional field blank when it does not apply.
  3. Build, review and copy the URL. Check that the path and fragment are correct, confirm that unrelated parameters remain in place, and inspect the new UTM values before copying the completed link.

For an illustrative link, start with https://example.com/pricing?ref=homepage#plans, then enter google as the source, cpc as the medium and spring-launch as the campaign name. The constructed result will retain the pricing path, ref parameter and #plans fragment while adding the three required UTM keys.

The source, medium and campaign values are the core manual-campaign fields, so the builder requires all three before producing a link. Term and content remain genuinely optional. If either is left empty, no empty utm_term or utm_content value appears in the output.

How Existing URL Parts Are Handled

You can start with a URL that already contains application-specific information. The builder owns only the five traditional UTM keys, so it can refresh campaign tags without removing unrelated information that the destination page may still need.

Part of the destination Builder behavior
Destination path Retained
Unrelated parameters such as ref, gclid or language settings Retained
URL fragment Retained
Existing copies of the five managed UTM keys Removed and replaced with the submitted values
Optional term or content with a blank value Left out of the result

This prevents duplicate values such as two utm_source entries when an existing campaign link is updated. It also means the builder does not preserve every character exactly as typed: normal URL query encoding can normalize the address, and spaces in a campaign term are converted into a valid encoded representation.

A completed UTM link can be placed in an advertisement, email newsletter, social post, partner placement or another campaign destination. If the link will appear in printed material, first confirm that its query string is correct, then use a QR Code Generator to turn that verified URL into a QR code.

The tool is particularly useful for marketers, publishers and small teams that need a properly structured campaign URL without manually editing a long query string. Because URL construction happens in the browser and no destination or label is sent to the tool’s server, the builder can be used for one-off links as well as recurring campaign workflows.

For a repeatable process, begin with the final destination page, choose values recognized by your reporting team, build the link and copy it. Retain a simple campaign record outside the URL so your team can identify the source, medium, campaign and any optional labels later.

URL Types the Builder Accepts

Use a complete absolute web address beginning with http:// or https://. The builder has a deliberately narrow scope and does not accept every kind of link:

  • Relative paths such as /pricing are rejected because they do not identify a complete web destination.
  • Email links, file-transfer links and other non-web protocols are outside the supported format.
  • Addresses with embedded username or password credentials are not supported.
  • Signed and pre-signed URLs should not be processed because normal query encoding can invalidate their signature.

Only utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_term and utm_content are managed. The builder does not add other GA4 campaign parameters or create a shortened link.

What Still Needs Testing After Construction

A valid-looking campaign URL is not proof that tracking will work. The tool does not inspect your Google Analytics property, confirm that auto-tagging is active, check consent configuration, test a redirect, verify that the destination page loads or determine whether future visits will appear in a particular report.

Test an important campaign link in your own browser and reporting setup before publishing it. Check the final landing page, inspect the network or page destination as appropriate, and confirm that the campaign values appear where your analytics process expects them. This validation is separate from building the URL.

If you need a short public-facing URL, use a trusted redirect or short-link service only after confirming that it preserves the complete query string. The builder itself does not shorten links or verify how a third-party redirect will handle UTM parameters.

Keep Campaign Labels Consistent and Privacy-Safe

Campaign values should describe the marketing placement rather than identify a person. Avoid names, email addresses, phone numbers, account numbers and other personal information in any UTM field. Query parameters can appear in browser history, referral logs, analytics systems and shared links, so private details may be stored or exposed outside the original campaign.

Use a source for the recognizable platform or referral, a medium for the channel and a campaign name for the specific initiative. Add term and content only where your reporting process needs that distinction. Consistent labels make campaign records easier to compare and reduce accidental spelling or capitalization variations.

To update a campaign, paste the existing tagged link into the builder and replace the five managed values. The destination path, fragment and unrelated parameters remain in place, while old copies of the managed UTM keys are removed before the new values are added.

  • Confirm that the destination is the final intended page and that it opens successfully.
  • Verify that source, medium and campaign name contain the agreed labels.
  • Check that no unnecessary empty term or content parameter was added.
  • Review unrelated parameters and the fragment to confirm they were retained.
  • Look for duplicate UTM keys, especially when refreshing an older campaign link.
  • Make sure no personal or sensitive information appears in the campaign values.
  • Test any redirect, short link or reporting destination before using it in a live campaign.
