Rearrange PDF pages free unlimited by typing every page number once in the order you want, clicking Reorder PDF, and downloading the new PDF from your browser. The Rearrange PDF Pages tool gives you exact control over the sequence without installing software or creating an account. After you choose a PDF, it displays the page count so you know which one-based page numbers are valid. You then enter a complete new sequence, and the tool builds the reordered document locally in your web browser. Every source page must appear exactly once, so the output keeps the same page count rather than silently dropping content. This is different from deleting or extracting pages: the operation changes where each existing page sits while preserving all pages. The service is free and unlimited, and the PDF never leaves your device. Because the reordered pages are copied losslessly, selectable text, original image resolution, links, and form fields remain intact. The finished file is a standard PDF that you can download and open normally.

What page reordering changes

Reordering changes the sequence of existing pages, not their contents. The page numbers used in the order field are the current positions in the source PDF, and numbering starts at 1 for the first page. This makes the tool suitable for scanned pages that were fed through a scanner in the wrong sequence, reports whose chapters need a new reading flow, and signed contracts whose signature page belongs elsewhere.

The main rule is simple: your new order must be a complete permutation of the source pages. A permutation changes the arrangement while retaining every item. The result therefore has the same number of pages as the input, with no page omitted and none repeated.

Page-ordering goal How to build the new sequence Expected result
Move one page Include every current page number and place the selected number in its target position. The selected page moves while the remaining pages keep their relative order.
Swap two pages Include the complete sequence and exchange the positions of the two selected numbers. Only those two positions change.
Reverse the document List all current page numbers in descending order. The last page becomes first and the reading direction is reversed.
Reorder report chapters Place the pages for each section together and list those sections in the desired reading order. The chapter flow changes without changing the document’s page count.

Set the new page order in five steps

  1. Choose the PDF. Click Browse PDF and select the file whose pages you want to rearrange, or drag and drop the PDF onto the tool’s page.
  2. Check the page count. Read the count shown next to the file name. That count establishes the valid page numbers, with the first page numbered 1.
  3. Enter the complete new sequence. In the New page order box, type the current pages in the sequence you want. Separate numbers with commas or spaces, and include every page exactly once. For a three-page file, enter 3,1,2 to move the last page to the front.
  4. Create the reordered document. Click Reorder PDF. The tool builds the new document entirely inside your web browser.
  5. Download and inspect it. Click the download link to save the reordered PDF, then open the file and confirm that its pages appear in the intended order.

The New page order box starts pre-filled with the document’s current order, so you only need to change the positions that matter. Commas and spaces are both accepted separators. The tool checks the sequence as you type and provides a clear message when a number is out of range, a page appears twice, or a page is missing. Review any such message and correct the corresponding entry before creating the document.

Because the output must contain a complete permutation, removing a number is not a way to delete a page. Each valid number belongs in the sequence once. That restriction keeps the reordering operation predictable and ensures the finished PDF contains every original page.

Plan a sequence that leaves nothing out

Before entering a long sequence, decide where the finished document should begin and how its sections should follow. The order field uses the source PDF’s positions, so start with the current page number of the page you want first and continue from there. The displayed page count is the safest guide for the valid range.

  • Write down the intended sequence before editing the field, especially for a document with many sections.
  • Keep the pages for each report chapter or document section together in the intended reading flow.
  • Count the numbers you plan to enter and compare that total with the page count displayed beside the file name.
  • For a complete reversal, enter the current page numbers from the highest number down to the lowest.
  • Keep the original PDF available until the downloaded result has been checked.

Printed page labels may not match the position numbers displayed by the tool. Work from the count shown after file selection and from the source order, rather than assuming that a printed label identifies the current sequence position.

Local processing and document fidelity

The reorder operation runs locally through JavaScript in your web browser. Your PDF is not uploaded to a server, stored, or transmitted, and processing does not require an account. Once the tool’s page has loaded, it can also work offline. This local workflow makes the tool suitable for confidential contracts, financial statements, medical records, legal filings, and other sensitive documents.

  • No installation: Use a supported web browser instead of installing a PDF editor.
  • Broad device support: The tool works on Windows, macOS, Linux, Chromebook, and mobile browsers.
  • No sign-in: You can select, reorder, and download the PDF without creating an account.
  • Local processing: The file remains on your device throughout the operation.

Pages are copied losslessly into a new PDF in the sequence you supply. Selectable text remains selectable, images retain their original resolution, and links and form fields are preserved. The output always has the same page count as the source. These properties apply to the reordered copy produced by the tool; the operation itself does not add, remove, rotate, crop, or otherwise transform individual pages.

Check the result before using it

Always open the downloaded PDF and review it from beginning to end. A quick check catches an incorrect sequence before the file is emailed, printed, archived, or submitted.

  • Confirm that the intended first page now appears first.
  • Check the transitions between chapters, sections, scans, or signed pages.
  • Make sure the last page is where you intended it to be.
  • Verify that the output still has the same number of pages as the source.
  • If the document relies on these features, confirm that text remains selectable, images look correct, and links or form fields still work.

If the order is wrong, identify the misplaced or omitted position, return to the ordering input, and create a corrected copy. Keep the original file until the new sequence and important document features have passed your review.

When rearranging is not the right operation

This tool changes the position of every page but intentionally does not support dropping unlisted pages. If the PDF contains a blank scan, an unwanted appendix, or another page that should be removed, use Delete PDF Pages first. You can then place the shortened document into a new sequence with the reordering tool.

If the goal is to copy only selected pages into a smaller document rather than preserve the complete source, use Extract PDF Pages. It creates a new PDF from selected pages in a specified order. Choose reordering when the complete set of original pages should remain and only their sequence needs to change.

A final pre-download checklist

Before clicking Reorder PDF, run through this short check:

  • The page count beside the file name is correct.
  • The first entry is the source page you want at the front.
  • Every valid page number appears exactly once.
  • No number is duplicated, missing, or outside the displayed range.
  • The complete sequence matches your intended reading or signing order.

Once those checks pass, click Reorder PDF, download the new file, and open it for a final visual review. The result is a free, unlimited, locally processed PDF containing the same pages in your chosen order.
