|---|---|
| A | Alfa |
| B | Bravo |
| C | Charlie |
| D | Delta |
| E | Echo |
| F | Foxtrot |
| G | Golf |
| H | Hotel |
| I | India |
| J | Juliett |
| K | Kilo |
| L | Lima |
| M | Mike |
| N | November |
| O | Oscar |
| P | Papa |
| Q | Quebec |
| R | Romeo |
| S | Sierra |
| T | Tango |
| U | Uniform |
| V | Victor |
| W | Whiskey |
| X | X-ray |
| Y | Yankee |
| Z | Zulu |

Practical Uses and Tool Limits
Decoding is the right direction in any situation where the code words are already in front of you and you want the letters. Common cases include:
- Support calls and ticket references. A customer spells an alphanumeric reference using code words and you need the original string.
- Classroom and training exercises. Students transcribe spoken code words and the tool confirms whether the resulting letters are correct.
- Radio logs and transcripts. A line like Hotel Echo Lima Lima Oscar should map to "Hello" on paper, and the strict decoder makes any wrong word visible.
- Audit and QA. Before publishing a list of code words, paste it into the decoder. Anything that fails to decode is not in the official table.
- Reference verification. A pasted code word that does not decode — "Alpha," for instance — tells you immediately that the source is using a non-official spelling.
The decode direction is also useful when reviewing how a colleague wrote a code-word sequence. If you suspect a typo, paste the sequence and the strict decoder will surface it on the spot, rather than letting the error propagate into a downstream log or training document.
The translator's factual scope is the 26-letter spelling table only. It deliberately does not convert digits into aviation number pronunciations such as Niner, Tree, Fower, Fife, or Zero; it does not add radio procedure, call-sign rules, or aviation phraseology; it does not generate spoken audio or coach pronunciation; it does not transcribe speech sounds the way the International Phonetic Alphabet does; and it does not accept handwriting, images, or audio as input.
Input is capped at 100,000 Unicode code points, which keeps tokenization, rendering, clipboard payloads, and memory use predictable. Empty input, malformed UTF-16, an excessive value, or an unknown decode token produces a clear error and no partial result. The translator never truncates accepted text. Non-ASCII letters in encode mode remain literal rather than being transliterated into approximate English letters, and emoji pass through untouched. For an authoritative external reference on the spelling table, see the FAA JO 7110.10EE ICAO Phonetics table.
Use the translator for spelling names and identifiers, auditing classroom material, decoding a recorded sequence, or simply checking the official 26-word table. It cannot confirm that a transmission was heard correctly, replace trained aviation or maritime procedure, or provide safety-critical operational instructions — for those contexts, follow the rules and qualified instruction of the relevant service.
